RENEE:
- Tell us a bit about you and what you do?
I currently live in Las Vegas with my husband and 2 kitties. I work virtually as a Certified Nutritional Consultant and run the Biohacker Babes podcast with my sister. I love helping others on their journey of health optimization!
- Talk us through your daily wellness routine?
I start my morning with a big glass of water and a few supplements, typically my liposomal multivitamin formula and some adaptogenic herbs. Then I head up to my rooftop with a cup of organic mold-free coffee to get some morning sunshine. Then it’s off to work (in my house!) to work with clients and interview guests for our podcast. Mid-day I sneak back outside to get more sunshine for my daily dose of vitamin D and then incorporate 30 minutes of meditation with my BrainTap device. Before bed I incorporate all of the sleep hygiene tips including wearing my blue light blocking glasses and wearing my Apollo band so I can optimize my sleep.
- What are some of your favorite biohacks?
Infrared sauna and oura ring! I always feel amazing after a session in my sauna. I can literally feel my body sweating out the toxins and the endorphin boost is incredible. My other favorite biohack is the oura ring because it has helped me optimize my sleep quality, as well as learn how to fully recover day to day.
- What do you do for working out?
I love Orangetheory Fitness. I’ve always been into fitness classes, probably because I danced for over 20 years. It’s fun, tough and energizing for me!
- Favorite healthy foods?
Sweet potatoes and avocado :)
- What is the best advice you ever received?
Never settle for average health or “normal”… we should be thriving every day!
- How do you use COAST?
I use COAST when I have a drink or two. Alcohol ruins my sleep and heart rate variability and we all know it’s a toxin to the body so I love using Coast to help offset the negative effects.
LAUREN:
- Tell us a bit about you and what you do?
I’ve been living in NYC for the last 18 years. I’m a performer in the Broadway musical Wicked, as well as a Personal Trainer, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, and co-host of the Biohacker Babes podcast with my sister!
- Talk us through your daily wellness routine?
I always start my morning with 2 big glasses of lemon water as well as some herbs and vitamins (depends on the day, but usually glutathione and some vitamin C. Just like Renee, I love to go up to my roof with my morning coffee (Four Sigmatic Lion’s Mane mushroom blend) to get my Cortisol Awakening response going. I love to do some easy mobility work up there or jumping jacks to get my body moving! I try to move as often as possible throughout the day, with lots of biohacking scattered throughout! I usually only do a harder, more consolidated workout twice a week. Whenever I can, I like to get outside in the sunshine and fresh air - I love my DMinder app to track Vitamin D opportunities and exposure! In the evening, I love to wind down with one of my energetic, cellular heaving devices like the AmpCoil or Healy device, my blue-light blockers, and some stretching before bed.
- What are some of your favorite biohacks?
I love cold plunges!!! Renee and I are opposites, haha! I love the cold shock proteins for energy, immunity, better mood! It’s shocking! In a good way : ) I also love my NEUBIE (neuro-bio-electrical stimulation) device for neuromuscular work and strength training. It’s the most powerful way to retrain movement dysfunction AND get the most bang for your workout!
- What do you do for working out?
I love VARIETY, so I’m constantly changing stimulus. I absolutely love Kettlebells for strength and conditioning, and mobility to keep me feeling young and pain free, but I also do a fair amount of running (short-distance) for endurance, yoga for stability and flexibility, and dance cardio every now and then to keep things fun!
- Favorite healthy foods?
Grass-fed beef, pastured-raised eggs, pretty much anything green! And root veggies always : )
- What is the best advice you ever received?
Never take anything at face value, always question and seek the truth! (I believe, a true biohacker’s mantra!)
- How do you use COAST?
Just like Renee, I love to use COAST when I drink alcohol. I’m a poor metabolizer of alcohol and it significantly raises my heart rate which always disturbs my sleep! When I take ½ before a night of drinking, and ½ after, my sleep is significantly improved! I’ve always used post-workout to help get my recovery started. I always feel much stronger and less depleted!
